Ražice

Ražice until 1923 Račice ( German Raschitz, also Ratschitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers southwest of Pisek and belongs to Okres Pisek.

Geography

Ražice located in the Putimská pánev ( Putim pool) in a pond region between the rivers of Blanice and Otava. To the north lies the pond Řežabinec, in the northeast of Ražický rybnik and west of the Markovec and Škaredý. In the east, the Skalský raise vrch (476 m) and Zlata hora ( 461 m). North of the village, the railway České Budějovice - runs Plzeň.

Neighboring towns are Kestřany, Zátavský Mlýn, Zátaví and Putim in the north, U Nádrazí and Hůrky in the northeast, Cerveny Mlyn in the east, Heřmaň, Pildovna, Skály Budičovice and Božovice the southeast, Ovčín, Humňany, Kunšov and Štětice in the south, Sedliště, Mladějovice in the southwest, Sudoměř in the west and Nové Kestřany and Lhota u Kestřan in the northwest.

History

Finds of tools from the Middle Stone Age at the pond Řežabinec occupy a prehistoric settlement in the area.

The oldest written reference to Ražice was 1469. The town's name derives from the personal name Ráž. In 1490 the rule was related to Mrs. Bergdorf of 12 hooves, their forced labor had to be made to the inhabitants of the castle Pisek. In the surrounding area placer gold were operated, recalled nor the name of Zlata Hora ( Goldberg ). Among the princes of Schwarzenberg Ražice was separated at the beginning of the 18th century by Mrs. Berg and assigned to the closer rule Protivín. In 1840 Ražitz consisted of 35 houses with 105 inhabitants. In the resort was a tavern. Vicarage was Heřman. Until the mid-19th century Ražitz remained always Allodialherrschaft Protiwin together with the Fideikommissgut Radomielitz submissive.

After the abolition of patrimonial RAČIĆ formed in 1850 a part of the community Heřmaň in Pisek District Commission and the Court of District Vodňany. Between 1868 and 1870 established the k.k. privileged Kaiser Franz Joseph Railway, the railway České Budějovice, Plzeň. On October 21, 1882 The municipality of Heřman was approved with the villages RAČIĆ and Stetic in the jurisdiction Vodňany in the judicial district of Pisek. Račice broke up in 1886 by Heřman off and formed its own community. 1889, the railway line was inaugurated Putim - Ražice and Ražice a station with restaurant originated. Since 1924, the municipality takes the official name Ražice. In 1938 Ražice had about 340 inhabitants. On November 26, 1971, the incorporation of Štětice with Humňany was.
