Resuscitation (English for " revival " ) is the first remix album by American nu metal band Linkin Park. It was released on 30 July 2002 and contains remixes of all twelve songs from the debut album, Hybrid Theory, as well as eight additional tracks, which are the majority are shorter intertitles. It reached high in the charts worldwide and reached in Germany, Austria and Switzerland Gold status.

Formation

After Mike Shinoda had been sent to various remixes, he decided to release an EP with remixes. Also member of the band and DJ Joe Hahn became enthusiastic about this idea. With his support, the project was expanded to now has been working on an LP. Both contributed to the album with some remixes. Finally, over fifty remixes were created supposedly what Shinoda chose the best. It was published on 30 July 2002.

Music style

The producer of the album, Mike Shinoda, left many songs by other artists from the underground hip -hop scene remix. Therefore, they were more marked compared to the originals of hip-hop and electro. Some of the songs were a bit darker and quieter.

The cover illustration shows the same motif as Hybrid Theory, but the soldier was replaced by a robot. The background is green.

Singles

15 days before the release of the album was the first and only official single H! Vltg3 / Pts.of.Athrty as a double A-side on the market. The B-side consists of Buy Myself, which is normally only found on the Japanese edition and iTunes bonus version of the album. The single was in the UK for the second Top Ten hit after In the End. In Germany it peaked at number 31 as promo singles were ENTH E Nd, Frgt/10 published P5hng Me A * wy, By_Myslf and 1stp Klosr.

Reception

Resuscitation received mixed reviews. Plattentests.de writes, the album foul in his utter uselessness and awarded four out of ten. Also Laut.de refers to the album as unnecessary and " sporadic artistic value ". Allmusic says, however, the album is a step in the right direction. Rolling Stone writes that the music was not groundbreaking, but compared to the original tracks its own appeal and therefore missed three out of five.
