Reith im Alpbachtal

Reith in the Alpbach Valley is a municipality with 2699 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Kufstein in Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of rats mountain.

Geographical Location

The place is located at the entrance to the Alpbach Valley, which branches off from the Lower Inn Valley at Brixlegg. The municipal area extends from the Inn valley floor up to the border with the municipality of Alpbach and the Kerschbaumersattel ( border to the Ziller Valley) up.

The center with the lake Lake Reith is located on a wide high terrace at the entrance. Lake Reith and Egelsee are characteristic funnel-shaped depressions in the plateau, which are probably caused by the glacial leaching of gypsum lenses.

History

Reith is a very old settlement, which is already being first mentioned around 976. In the 15th - 19th Century was operated in the area of the Reither Kogel ( 1336 m) at St. Gertraudi silver mining and copper mining. The degradation has long been the largest to Schwaz silver and copper mine in Tyrol. The mining industry is set, there are still large reserves of barite, their degradation, however, due to global competition currently not worth it.

From 1952 to 1976, the community was called Reith bei Brixlegg, changed its name but - especially for reasons of tourism - in Reith in the Alpbach valley. In addition to agriculture today, especially tourism plays a role, which are distributed about equally to the winter and summer season nights.

1979 Reith in the Alpbach valley was named by the Entente Florale Europe "The most beautiful flower village of Europe ". This award was based on the wonderful balcony flower arrangements, which is still one of the most beautiful in the Tyrolean lowlands, as well as the manicured flower islands in the local area and the beautiful townscape as a whole.

Since 2012 there is the " Hildegard of Bingen - Garden ", which is cherished by the local Hildegard -von -Bingen Club, a watchable herb garden, which can be visited at any time. For groups, there are also tours by appointment.

Traffic
