Remlingen, Lower Saxony

Remlingen is a municipality in the district of Wolfenbüttel. Remlingen is an old mineworkers at the Aces and the administrative seat of the velvet municipality aces.

Geography

Remlingen is located about 12 km southeast of the county town of Wolfenbüttel. The municipality is divided into three districts:

  • Remlingen ( 1,370 inhabitants)
  • Great Biewende (372 inhabitants)
  • Small Biewende (250 inhabitants)

History

In the year 1022 at the southern tip of aces Remlingen place is mentioned for the first time in the written tradition, as a Remninge. In the next few years every now and then appear alternate spellings of the location, such as Ramnigge, Remnigge, Remmelinghe, Remminghe, etc. In 1359 the now common notation Remlingen occurs. The parish of Remlingen was the seat of a superintendent with supervision of the parishes of Semmenstedt, Hedeper, Seinstedt, Winnigstedt, Achim, Kissenbrück, Neindorf, United Denkte and Great Biewende. The Captian and equerry Georg Engelhard von Löhneysen operational by the end of the 16th century an important printing office, in the duke's writings and work on the mountain being printed. The Edelhof of the Löhneyseschen family is in the Rittermatrikel. Before the village was a good belonging to wooden windmill.

Of particular importance for Remlingens development was the Aces shaft that was abgetäuft from 1898. In 1906 began the construction of the mine. In the years 1908-1926, especially the carnallitische potash deposits north of the shaft was mined. The crude salt mining potash was later terminated in favor of the rock salt. In 1964 the operation of the plant has been set. After its closure the shaft for the final repository and research facility was developed for radioactive residues. The town coat of arms bears witness to their development: In Blue a gold top with blue Schlegel and blue iron, diagonally crossed, represents the mining, top right a golden gear stands for commercial, industrial and craft, top left a golden plow for farming and gardening.

On March 1, 1974, the United Biewende communities and small Biewende were incorporated.

Economy

Biogas plant

Mid-2007 was started to build in Remlingen on the county road 20 in the direction of small Vahlberg, a biogas plant on which a local farmers field. The turbine speed should be at 550 kWh and heat public buildings, and a US-based company in the winter. In the summer of converting some of the heat generated into electrical energy by the ORC process and fed into the grid. With a small residual heat wants to heat the swimming pool. Operator is the Greenvironment GmbH in Berlin.

Culture and sights

School

In 1961 the first school building was in Remlingen, in several phases, built. In previous years, the students had to go into tonight's administration building of the velvet municipality aces and additionally make use of the today's community of the church as a second classroom. Due to increasing pupil numbers 1970 and 1971 the school building was expanded. In 1972, the gym was built.

1999 six more classrooms were created by a replant. The front part of the old building is now used exclusively by the primary school. The place for sports oriented old and replant is shared by the elementary and secondary school.

In 2003, the orientation levels were abolished by the policy. 2004 began in Remlingen to expand the school. There was a new building, which extends over three floors and still contains space for scientific premises, among other things. The primary use of these spaces is the fifth to sixth classes reserved.

The school also participates in regional and projects: the Comenius program, the school environment and the exchange with the French.

In the years 2004 and 2006 the school received the predicate of the environmental school. Mid-2007 were taken on the main roof of the school in operation solar cells. 2008, a direct connection to the newly built biogas plant which additionally heat the swimming pool and other buildings in Remlingen and will supply in the summer months with electricity.

Attractions

1987 discovered Remlinger local curator Norbert Koch at a field inspection on the Hohberg the wall of chamber Remlingen. Excavations conducted in 1997 showed a masonry chamber grave. In Lower Saxony, northern Harz foreland of this grave type could be detected for the first time here. With up to 50 cm high enclosure wall of non-local rocks, the stone paving and the clearly visible remains of charred wood of the collapsed roof itself provided good opportunities for the reconstruction of the wall chamber.

Traffic

The Federal Highway 79 Wolfenbüttel - Halberstadt runs right through the town. Besides the village of the district road K 20 runs for small Vahlberg. On the other side of the road Remlingen L 513 leads to small Biewende, United Biewende, Kissenbrück and ends in Ohrum.
