Renkenberge

Renkenberge is a municipality in the Emsland district, in Lower Saxony. It belongs to the Samtgemeinde Lathen, which has its headquarters in the town of Lathen.

Geographical location

Renkenberge between Papenburg and Meppen on a side canal of the near Dortmund- Ems Canal.

Neighboring communities

Neighboring communities are the towns Kluse and Wippingen in Samtgemeinde Dorpen, in the east the communities Werpeloh and Soegel in Samtgemeinde Soegel, in the south the communities and Lathen Lathen craze and to the west the municipalities Fresenburg and Sustrum in the north.

History

Formation

The municipality was created from 1932 as part of the Emsland cultivation of the new settlements Kluse and Melstrup settlement and was declared in 1934 into an independent municipality. Effective October 1, 1938, the settlement was renamed Kluse Renkenberge to avoid the frequent confusion with the neighboring district of Kluse the former town of Ahlen. The name Renkenberge been derived from a hill ( "mountain", about 26 m above sea level. NN ) on the site of a peasant named Renken.

First settlers

Renkenberge originated from bog and marsh areas that were burned to the management. Then, it was now possible new young Heuerleute or farmers' sons who had expected no property by inheritance, refer a farmstead. Most settlers in the municipality came from the region around Lingen. Each farmer received farmsteads 12-15 ha total of 33 families settled in Renkenberge. Since the late 20s, however, already tried a few settlers to cultivate the land.

The municipal council of Renkenberge is composed of 9 women council and councilors.

As honorary mayor Heinrich Boii (CDU ) was elected.

Traffic

Renkenberge can be reached via the main road 70. There is still a motorway connection to the nearby motorway A31.
