Renty

Renty is a commune with 595 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Pas -de- Calais, in the Nord -Pas -de- Calais; it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint- Omer and the canton Fauquembergues.

History

Renty belonged as a fief of the same family, later the house Croy and the House of Egmond. Emperor Charles V. stood Renty 1532 to Margraviate ( Marquisat ). On August 13, 1554, the French beat the Spaniards here ( Battle of Renty ). In August 1638 the Renty castle was destroyed by the French.
