Reuben Reeves

Ruben Reeves (also Reuben Reeves, born October 25, 1905 in Chicago and Evansville [ BBDP 1], (Indiana ); † 8 September [ BBDP 1] in 1975 in New York City ) was an American jazz trumpeter of the Chicago Jazz.

Biography

Ruben Reeves made ​​in 1927 with Johnny Dodds and his brother Gerald Reeves recordings. After that, he was a member of the formation Missourians whose line later Cab Calloway took over. 1928 made ​​recordings under his own name with musicians of this orchestra ( Papa Skag Stomp, Blues Sweets, Texas Special Blues ) and again in 1933 with its own formation. Reeves was heavily influenced by Louis Armstrong, but also used often strong Growl effects. From the record label Vocalion was then tries to expose him as a rival Armstrong. 1952 Reeves left the music business and worked as a security guard in a bank.
