Revens

Revens is a commune with 28 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Gard in the Languedoc- Roussillon region. It belongs to the community association Communauté de communes de L' Aigoual.

Geography

Revens located in the extreme west of the department of Gard. The hamlet is located in the Cévennes National Park, south of the Forêt Domaniale du Causse Noir. West of the town, the valley of Dourbie, to the southwest is the Trevezel. The village extends along a road.

History

Previously Revens belonged to Viguerie of Le Vigan and Meyrueis and church to the diocese of Nîmes. In the 12th century it was first mentioned under the name Roden.

Attractions

The construction of the church of Saint -Pierre, which began in the 19th century, was completed with the completion of the bell tower in 1889. It replaced the old church of Saint -Pierre. This is located on the banks of the Dourbie and was very isolated. From it was a hermitage.

In the Menhir de Revens is a single menhir, whose exact function has not been elucidated. Today, the menhir severely affected by the weather.
