Geography
Geographical Location
The municipality covers an area of 15.14 square kilometers. It is located about 3 kilometers south-east of Gronau (Leine), just a bit east of the line and northwest of the Seven Mountains.
Belongs to this community one of the largest Lower Saxon landscape protection areas, which is considered Fauna-Flora -Habitat. Near Wallenstedt there is a gliding field.

The municipality still belong next to the village Rheden the places Wallenstedt and Heinum.
History
Although the origin of the settlement (possibly under the name hretha ) probably dates back to the 9th century AD, the first-time documentary mention appears in the year 1022. The parish of Rheden Beginning in the 11th century by importance. At the same time since the 15th century there was a manor in Rheden. The castle was built in 1729.
The district Wallenstedt was first mentioned in 1022, 1255 is the first mention of Heinum instead. Both places were incorporated on March 1, 1974 on the occasion of municipal reform in the community Rheden.
