Rhett Rakhshani

Rhett Rakhshani ( born March 6, 1988 in Huntington Beach, California) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since April 2013 in the Växjö Lakers Hockey in the Svenska ligands under contract.

Career

Rhett Rakhshani began his career as a hockey player in the U.S. National Team Development Program, for which he was active from 2004 to 2006 the Junior League North American Hockey League. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2006 in the fourth round as a total 100 players from the New York Islanders. First, however, he attended for four years, the University of Denver, for their hockey team he played in parallel in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. With his team he won the 2008 WCHA Championship. He also received numerous personal awards. Towards the end of the season 2009/10 he gave for the farm team of the Islanders, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, his debut in professional hockey, as he prepared two goals in ten games in the American Hockey League. In the following season, he played his first two games in the National Hockey League for the Islanders, but spent the entire rest of the season again at the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. There he was able to convince and allowed the first AHL All- Star Classic attend. In addition, he was elected team in the AHL All- Rookie. Also in the 2011/12 season he ran in only five games in the NHL for the Islanders while he was used regularly in the AHL farm team in the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

In June 2012, Rakhshani signed a contract for the 2012/13 season at the Elitserien participants HV71.

Internationally

For USA Rakhshani took part in the Under-18 Junior World Cup in 2006 and the U20 World Youth Championship 2008. At the 2006 U18 World Championships he won the gold medal with his team.
