Richard Taylor (filmmaker)
Sir Richard Leslie Taylor, KNZM (* in New Zealand) is co-founder and director of the New Zealand special effects company Weta Workshop. He was involved among other things, at the movies, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, as well as various other films of Peter Jackson.
Taylor is in a relationship with his colleague Tania Rodger, the two know each other since high school.

Taylor has received numerous awards and several nominations. So he was awarded two Oscars for " Best Visual Effects ".
- 2003 together with Jim Rygiel, Randall William Cook and Mark Stetson for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship and
- 2007, together with Joe Letteri, Brian Van't Hul, Christian Rivers and for King Kong.
He received three additional Oscars for makeup and costumes:
- 2003 for " Makeup " along with Peter Owen for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship and
- 2005 for " Makeup " along with Peter King and for " costumes " ( Costume Design), together with Ngila Dickson for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
In addition, he was honored three times by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts ( BAFTA ).
- In 2002 for achievements in special visual effects ( Achievement in Special Visual Effects) along with Jim Rygiel, Alex Funke, Randall William Cook and Mark Stetson for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship.
- 2003 for costume design along with Ngila Dickson for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
- In 2006 for achievements in special visual effects ( Achievement in Special Visual Effects) along with Joe Letteri, Christian Rivers and Brian Van't Hul for King Kong.
