Robert Greenidge

Robert Greenidge ( born April 28, 1950 in Laventille, Port of Spain, Trinidad ) is an internationally successful composer and musician on the steel pan.

Life

Greenidge grew up in Laventille in Success Village. He began playing at age 8, Steel Pan. Greenidge emigrated in 1971 to the United States where he studied music at the Third Street Musical Conservatory in New York. In 1974, he settled in Los Angeles. He has collaborated with artists such as John Lennon, Ringo Starr or Taj Mahal.

1991 and 1994 won Greenidge with the Desperadoes Steel Orchestra the Steel Band Panorama competition.

The Hummingbird Medal he was awarded in recognition of his achievements in 1993.

Robert Greenidge applies in addition to Andy Narell as an internationally -known steelpan musicians.
