Roberto Sacasa

Roberto Sacasa Sarria ( born February 27, 1840 in Chinandega, † July 2, 1896 in Managua) was on August 5, 1889 to January 1, 1891 March 1, 1891 to May 31, 1893 to the President of Nicaragua. Previously, he had acted as vice-president from 1887 to 1889.

Life

He was married to his cousin Ángela Sacasa Cuadra. His son Juan Bautista Sacasa was also later President of Nicaragua. He also had two daughters.

Roberto Sacasa Sarria was a member of the Partido Republicano that prevailed 35 years in Nicaragua. Within the Partido Republicano fought the flow of Progresistas the flow of Iglesieros. Sacasa agreed to hand over power to a junta of five persons, two of which should be determined by him and three of the insurgents in the Pacto de Sabana Grande on May 31, 1893. The junta pending the convening of a Constituent Assembly - so for four months - govern. One of the specific José Santos Zelaya was Salvador Machado Aguero, he sat the junta.
