Robinson José Canó Mercedes ( born October 22, 1982 in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) is a Dominican baseball player in Major League. He currently plays for the New York Yankees as a second baseman.

Career

Minor League

After graduating from high school Cano was taken in 2001 by the New York Yankees as an amateur free agent contract and began to play in the minor league teams of the Yankees. There he was soon regarded as one of the most promising players. His father, José Canó was taken in 1980 by the New York Yankees as a pitcher under contract and played in 1989 for the Houston Astros six games in the major leagues. Robinson Canó was named after the baseball legend Jackie Robinson.
