Rodica Mateescu

Rodica Mateescu (born Petrescu; born March 13, 1971 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian athlete. She performed exclusively at the triple jump.

At the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1994, she finished fourth at the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 1995 and fifth at the 1996 Olympics seventh.

In 1997 she took at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Paris in fourth place and then celebrated their greatest success at the World Championships in Athens by winning the silver medal. You had to deal with a national record of 15.16 meters, only the Czech Sarka Kašpárková beaten ( 15.20 m ).

The following year she was fourth at the European Championships in Budapest.

Four times (1994-1996, 1998), she was Romanian Champion.

Rodica Mateescu is 1,80 m tall and weighed about 59 kg competition times. She is married to the hurdler Mugur Mateescu since 1995.
