Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bucaramanga

The Archdiocese of Bucaramanga (Latin: Archidioecesis Bucaramanguensis, Spanish: Archidiócesis de Bucaramanga ) is a location in Columbia Roman Catholic diocese based in Bucaramanga. It includes part of the Colombian Departementos Santander.

History

Pope Pius XII. founded it on 17 December 1952, the Bull Cum sit latior out of territory of the Archdiocese of Nueva Pamplona and it became the Archdiocese of Bogotá assumed as suffragan. On 29 May 1956, was part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Nueva Pamplona.

With the Apostolic Constitution Quamquam Ecclesiarum it was collected on 14 December 1974 in the rank of Metropolitanerzbistums. A part of its territory lost it on 7 July 1987 for the erection of the Diocese of Málaga Soatá.
