Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Szczecin-Kamień

The Archdiocese of Szczecin - Pomerania (Latin Archidioecesis Sedinensis - Caminensis, Polish Archidiecezja szczecińsko - Kamieńska ) is an archbishopric in Poland. The Archbishop of Stettin - Pomerania is also Metropolitan of the church of the same province, the Koszalin - Kolobrzeg the bishoprics and Zielona Góra - Gorzów are assumed as suffragan sees. Episcopal church is the Cathedral of St. James in Szczecin.

History

On June 28, 1972, Pope Paul VI. with the Apostolic Constitution Episcoporum Poloniae coetus from territories of the Diocese of Berlin, which were administered after the Second World War on the basis of the Potsdam Agreement of Poland and recognized by the 1972 ratified the Warsaw Treaty and by the Federal Republic of Germany as a Polish territory, the bishoprics of Stettin - Pomerania and Koszalin - Kolobrzeg and it placed as suffragan dioceses of the Ecclesiastical Province of Gniezno. The name commemorates the historic former diocese of Pomerania. Cathedral, the Cathedral of St. James in Szczecin (since 1983 Minor Basilica ); Co-Cathedral is the cathedral in Kamien Pomorski Camminer ( Pomerania ). With the restructuring of the Polish dioceses in 1992 ( Totus Tuus Poloniae Populus Apostolic Constitution on March 25 ) was raised to an archbishopric and under him the bishoprics of Koszalin - Kolobrzeg and Grunberg -Landsberg Stettin - Pomerania.
