Roman Catholic Diocese of Gizo
The diocese of Gizo (Latin: Dioecesis Ghizotana ) is a location in the Solomon Islands Roman Catholic diocese based in Gizo on the island Ghizo. It includes the provinces of Western, Choiseul and Isabel.
History
Pope John XXIII. founded the Apostolic Vicariate of Western Solomon Islands with the Apostolic Constitution regnum Christi on June 11, 1959 annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate Northern Solomon Islands and Südsalomonen.
On November 15, 1966, was charged with the Apostolic Constitution Laeta incrementa to the diocese and adopted its current name.
