Roman Catholic Diocese of Morogoro

The Diocese of Morogoro (Latin: Dioecesis Morogoroensis ) is a location in Tanzania Roman Catholic diocese based in Morogoro.

History

The Diocese of Morogoro was built Zentralsansibar on May 11, 1906, Pope Pius X made ​​territorial concessions of the Apostolic Vicariate Nordsansibar as Apostolic Vicariate. On 21 December 1906, the Apostolic Vicariate was Zentralsansibar renamed as Apostolic Vicariate of Bagamoyo. The Apostolic Vicariate of Bagamoyo was on September 13, 1910 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Vicariate of Kilimanjaro. A further transfer of territory took place on January 28, 1935 establishing the Apostolic Prefecture of Dodoma.

On March 25, 1953, the Apostolic Vicariate of Bagamoyo was by Pope Pius XII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Quemadmodum ad Nos to the diocese and renamed Diocese of Morogoro. It was the Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam is a suffragan.
