Roman Catholic Diocese of Sandakan

The Diocese of Sandakan (Latin: Dioecesis Sandakananus ) is a located in Malaysia Roman Catholic diocese based in Sandakan.

History

The Diocese of Sandakan was on 16 July 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI. built with the Apostolic Constitution Missionalem by navitatem out of territory of the Diocese of Kota Kinabalu and the archbishopric of Kuching is a suffragan. First bishop was Julius Dusin Gitom.

On 23 May 2008, the Diocese of Sandakan was placed under the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu, suffragan.
