Roxanne Shanté

Roxanne Shanté ( born November 9, 1969 in Queens, New York City, USA, real name, Lolita Shante Gooden ) is an American rapper and psychologist. She was a member of the legendary Juice Crew to music producer and DJ Marley Marl (consisting of Marley Marl, MC Shan, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Roxanne Shanté, and Craig G) and is considered a role model for many later successful female rappers. Biography

Roxanne Shanté grew up in New York in Queensbridge, a deprived area. Her career began at the age of 14 years when she released the song Roxanne 's Revenge. It was a musical response to the hit Roxanne, Roxanne UTFO the rap group from the year 1984. Shantés song became a hit and quickly spread her reputation as energetic Battle Queen.
