Rudno nad Hronom

Rudno nad Hronom ( until 1927 slovak " Hronské Rudno "; Rudain German, Hungarian Garamrudnó - to 1907 rudno ) is a town in central Slovakia with 506 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011), the Region belongs to Okres Žarnovica, a circle of Banskobystrický.

Geography

The municipality is located in the valley of Hron ( German Gran ) placed in the west at the confluence with the stream Rudniansky creek, between the mountains Štiavnica Hills to the east and Pohronský Inovec. The center is located about six kilometers east of Nová Bana.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1283 as Ruda writing; Other sources speak of already 1147 true to the name of the site's history was dominated by mining: . to the 19th century ore was extracted in the nearby mine. In the period 1871-1922 instead of the mine a Glazier worked.
