Saint-Joseph (Martinique)
Saint -Joseph is a town with 16,849 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the French overseas department of Martinique. The city is located about 15 km north of the capital, Fort -de -France in the hilly, agrarian hinterland and also about 15 km north- west of Lamentin. There is the International Aéroport Martinique Aimé Césaire airport.

Location
The municipality is located in the center of the island and has no access to the sea.
Climate
It has a tropical climate.
Transport
With the public bus system in Fort-de -France and all the surrounding communities can be achieved.
Urban Development
On 1 January 2009, the official population count was including people with secondary residence 17,369. The core community with a small-town development is surrounded by a large number of settlements such as Bambous du Champ, Belle Étoile, Bois du Parc, Bois Neuf, Chapelle, Choco, Durand, Fond Cacao, Gondeau, Long Bois, Morne des Olives, Morne Poirier, Rosière, Monsieur Rivière and Séailles.
Through these settlements, the landscape is very much urban sprawl. Some of the settlements are evidence of a relatively high standard of living.
Tourism / Attractions
About 7.5 km northwest of the core community is Cœur Bouliki, in the middle of tropical rainforest on the Rivière Blanche, a popular place for a picnic and a starting point for walks and hikes.
History
The municipality of Saint Joseph was officially established on March 24, 1888.

Economy
Agriculture: be mainly cultivated plants with high water requirements, in particular the banana, but also flowers like Anthurium, Alpinia or porcelain Rose ( Etlingera elatior ).
