Santa Maria (Ilocos Sur)

Santa Maria is a town in the province of Ilocos Sur Philippine and is located on the South China Sea. In the east it borders the province of Abra. In 2010 it counted 28,597 inhabitants. The area is mostly flat. The Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asuncion heard since 1993 a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Santa Maria, the Marine Research and Development Center of the University of Northern Philippines is located.
