The Dobra is the currency of São Tomé and Príncipe.

A Dobra was divided into 100 centimes, they are at the time but no longer used. 1000 Dobra are also called Conto.

In circulation are coins since 1997 to 500, 1000 and 2000 Dobra, as well as bills to 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000 Dobra. Bills with lower denominations than 5000 Dobra are no longer found in circulation.

Until independence on 12 July 1975, the Portuguese escudo was the currency in Sao Tome and Principe.

On 29 July 2009 it was agreed in an agreement with Portugal to couple with effect from 1 January 2010 the Dobra fixed to the euro, in the ratio 1 EUR = 24500 STD.
