History

The place Schirnding was the first time on October 8, 1377 with the family of Schirnding documentary mention. The former Office of the Hohenzollern ( and now Prussian 1791) Principality of Bayreuth was with this in the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 to France and came in 1810 to the Kingdom of Bavaria.

On July 29, 1977, the church received the title of the market.

Incorporations

On April 1, 1977, a part of the dissolved municipality Kothigenbibersbach was incorporated with at that time about 25 residents. On January 1, 1978, a part of the dissolved municipality came fishermen then added with about 50 inhabitants.

The market council of Schirnding has 13 members including the mayor. Of these, 7 are the SPD and 6 of the CSU (as after the local elections 2008 ).

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on February 19, 1953 by a decision of the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior.

Blazon: "In gold above the other three horizontal gestümmelte black knots. "

Local fishermen coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 16 August 1962 decision of the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior.

Blazon: " Argent, a slumped blue steer handle with wavy bars;. the right a floating black Tatzenkreuz, left sechsstrahliger red star " ( Note: In a blazon the pages are given a mirror image. )

The drawbar cross symbolizes the confluence of the border forming rivers Röslau and Eger in fishermen. In the small town and the municipal area belonging village Oschwitz in Sechsämterland that counted before the imperial Eger and since the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries the territory of the viscount of Nuremberg, later to the Margrave of Brandenburg- Bayreuth, passed despite the change the sovereignty relations with Eger continued through the basic rule. Oschwitz belonged almost entirely to the Eger Coming of the Teutonic Knights, final since 1692 the city of Eger. In addition to the fishermen German men dominated the Coming of Eger Kreuzherren Order as landowners. The memory of this local historical relations hold in the municipal crest the black cross of the German Order and the red star as a symbol of the Cross awake. The silver and black in the coat of arms indicate the Margraviate of Bayreuth.

Public transportation

Schirnding has a railway station on the Nuremberg- Cheb. On the route run commuter trains Vogtlandbahn between Cheb and Marktredwitz and regional express trains of Deutsche Bahn between Cheb and Nuremberg.

Private transport

On the main road 303/Europastraße 48 of the border crossing with the Czech Republic Schirnding-Mühlbach/Pomezí nad Ohri is. The B303 runs north past Schirnding.

Culture and sights

Near the community of the book is well. In the limit Museum Schirnding the history of the border between Bavaria and the Czech Republic is described.
