Schlöben

Schlöben is a municipality in the Thuringian Saale- Holzland and fulfilling part of municipality Bad Klosterlausnitz.

Geography

Location

Schlöben and the district of the village lying at the southern foot of the historic mountain stick Wöllmisse and north of the motorway 4, in the valley of the Roda of Eisenach leads here Hermsdorfer cross. Through the village run the country road in 1095 and the county road 119, you were once a trade route towards Biirgel, there to pass the railway ford interfere in the direction of Leipzig and Altenburg.

In the municipality there are six villages: Gröben, Rabis, Trockhausen, Mennewitz, Schlöben, Zöttnitz.

History

One of the oldest hollow bead finds from the Bronze Age dates from 1856 from Schlöben. Documented Schlöben was first mentioned on February 18, 1190.

Culture and sights

In the local situation one finds a lowland castle in the valley beside the road. The interior, which is protected by a moat, called " mansion " - ie manor. The still visible today rest of the architecture needs to go back to the renewal of the barons Carl von Hardenberg 1727. The Hardenberg family was long owner of that plant. Poet Novalis came out of the family. A Henry of Schlöben was mentioned in the Lobdeburgern.

On the road north-east of Schlöben towards Schöngleina there is a stone cross. According to tradition, said to have come to death a butcher here.

To the west of the water tank Podelsatz on inclined slope is the desert village location Ladnitz. The associated water tower was excavated during the construction of the water reservoir. They found high medieval vessels. This property was mentioned in a document from 1216. In the 14th century the castle lost importance as a noble residence and Vorwerk was to the 15th century.

About the Scheer mill at Podelsatz is a well-preserved natural conditions -use rampart. There are more ditches and hills in the plant. It could have been a refuge castle. Nearby, but was also the deserted village Ladenitz.

The site of an early Iron Age Hoard is located on the southern edge of the Wöllmisse on a mountain spur above the village Rabis. There bronze and iron objects were found.

A hill fort was located about one kilometer south of the village Gröben on the western flank of the mountain forest.

Economy

The Bioenergy Village Schlöben eG founded in 2009, aims to realize the heat and electricity produced from renewable energy sources ( biomass). The biogas plant consists of several silos, a cogeneration plant in Mennewitz and two cogeneration plants in Schlöben themselves who take the base load supply. With further energy demand can be switched on supporting a wood chip heating system. The energy source in Mennewitz is passed via pipeline through Zöttnitz after Schlöben. From here distributes the heating network and supplies 86 customers (as of 02/ 2012).
