History

The first written mention of the village Buiucani dated to the second half of the 15th century. Until the beginning of the 17th century Buiucani was in possession of several small landowners, who were called in Moldavia as Razesi, and then came into the possession of the boyars D. Paleologa. 1608 pointed Gospodar Konstantin Movile Buiucani to the heirs Hodora and Paraski. At that time, a pond and a mill on the river Bîc were mentioned. 1610, the village had again several owners. In the 1620s Buiucani came into the possession of a monastery in Iaşi. The local population was mainly engaged in agriculture, but there were also blacksmiths, carpenters and other craft shops. 1774 there were 52 houses in the local area.

At the beginning of the 1830s Chisinau grew to the limits of the village. After the Second World War began a building boom since the 1950s multi-storey residential buildings were erected.

In 1950, the Botanical Garden of the Moldavian Academy of Sciences was created. In the district area also include a College of Education as well as several parks and foreign embassies.
