Sectorul Ciocana

Ciocana is a district of the Moldovan capital Chisinau. In the 2004 census, it had 101834 inhabitants.

Thanks to the southwest of the district the Bîc flows.

History

Ciocana was built on the territory of the former settlements Chokana Noue ( New Chokana ) and Chokana Veke (Alt - Chokana ). The first written mention dates to the year 1757th At a district of Chisinau Ciocana was 1959. During the 1960s, a building boom began. In addition to multi-storey residential buildings and public buildings a number of important industries originated. Several apartments were, however, due to the low wages no tenants.
