Séméac

Séméac ( Occitan: Semiac ) is a commune in the Hautes -Pyrénées, in the Midi -Pyrenees. It belongs to the district of Tarbes is the main town in the canton Séméac.

Séméac has 4669 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) to 6.29 square kilometers and is located between the east bank of the Adour and the Alaric channel in the Bigorre and is an eastern suburb of Tarbes. The inhabitants call themselves Séméacais.

The connection point Tarbes Est Autoroute A64 is located in the municipal area.

Stone Age settlement traces are detected, but the place Séméac should be developed only in the late Carolingian period. First mentioned the place is 1032.
