The Sierra Leone River is a river or estuary in Sierra Leone.

It is formed by the confluence of the Rokel and Bankasoka about 40 kilometers upstream of its confluence with the Atlantic at Freetown. The 2950 square kilometer area is since 1999 under the protection of the Ramsar Convention.

The Sierra Leone River is between six and 16 kilometers wide and 40 kilometers long. At its mouth in the Atlantic Ocean, the harbor Freetown, is also located a few kilometers inland from the port Pepel.
