Signa

Signa is a municipality in the province of Florence with 18,266 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the Italian region of Tuscany.

Geography

Signa is about 15 km west of Florence, at the mouth of the river Bisenzio into the Arno. The river Ombrone Pistoiese forms the western boundary of the municipality of Carmignano.

Districts ( frazioni ) are San Mauro a Signa, Lecore, Sant'Angelo a Lecore and San Piero a Ponti.

The neighboring municipalities are Campi Bisenzio, Carmignano, Lastra a Signa, Poggio a Caiano and Scandicci.

  • Museo della Paglia e dell'Intreccio " D. Michelacci " - a museum explaining straw processing, a Signa in the past famous craft. A product were known Florentine straw hats.
