Sir Edward Winnington, 2nd Baronet

Sir Edward Winnington, 2nd Baronet (* November 14, 1749; † January 9, 1805 ) was a British politician.

Life

Edward Winnington was a son of Sir Edward Winnington, 1st Baronet and his wife Mary (nee Ingram ). He attended Eton College and following the Christchurch College, University of Oxford. 1776, he married Anne Foley, the daughter of Thomas Foley, 1st Baron Foley. The marriage produced five sons and five daughters were born. When his father died in November 1777 and his son Thomas moved then as 2nd Baron Foley in the House of Lords, Winnington took over on November 27, 1777 for the vacant seat of his prospective brother in the House of Commons and represented there until his death in the electoral district of Droitwich. They succeeded in Winnington parliamentary seat, which his family had occupied during the first half of the 18th century to recapture.

On December 9, 1791 Winnington succeeded his father as 2nd Baronet. He was succeeded by his son Thomas as 3rd Baronet. Like his father, he was also a deputy in the House of Commons. The same was true for Thomas 's younger brother Henry, who represented the electoral district of Worcestershire Western in the House from 1833 to 1841.

Another son, Edward, was an Anglican clergyman and changed his family name in 1817 in Winnington - Ingram to. The 2nd baronet is thus the grandfather of Herbert Frederick Winnington - Ingram, the great-grandfather of Charles William Winnington - Ingram and Arthur Winnington - Ingram, and the great great grandfather of Reginald Pepys Winnington - classicists Ingram.
