Snooker season 2005/2006

The snooker season 2005/ 06 was a series of snooker tournaments that belonged to the main tour. It consisted, as in the pre-season of nine competitions: in addition to the title and prize money and world ranking points were awarded in six world ranking tournaments, in addition, there were three invitational tournaments.

After 21 years, the British Open for the first time were no longer in the tournament calendar. Likewise, the Irish Masters was canceled after three years Main Tour. For the first time the Northern Ireland Trophy was held in Belfast, which also opened the season on 17 August 2005. They also had the status of an invitation tournament as the Pot Black Cup, which was revived after a long break. In this Cup, it was, however, only a one-day show tournament was decided in which in a single frame on getting ahead and Tournament victory. The season was completed traditionally on 1 May 2006 with the final of the World Cup.
