Geography

Geographical Location

Sonderhofen is located on Gaubahnradweg between Rittershausen and Gelchsheim in the Würzburg region.

Community structure

Sonderhofen is divided into five districts:

  • Bolzhausen
  • Holzmühle
  • Sächsenheim
  • Sonderhofen
  • Wiesenmuhle

There are the districts Bolzhausen, Sonderhofen and Sächsenheim.

History

As part of the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg, which was part of the Frankish kingdom circle Sonderhofen was secularized in 1803 in Bavaria's favor, then the Peace of Pressburg (1805 ) Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany left to form the Grand Duchy of Würzburg, with which it finally fell to Bavaria in 1814. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Incorporations

On 1 May 1978, the formerly independent communities Bolzhausen and Sächsenheim were incorporated.

The municipal election of 2008 led to the following distribution of seats in the local council:

The municipal tax revenue amounted to the equivalent of € 273,000 in 1999, which amounted to the trade tax revenues ( net) converted € 21,000.

The fire department

The volunteer fire department Sonderhofen exists since the year 1886. She's fire brigade of the southern district of Würzburg. The fire department has a Löschgruppenfahrzeug LF 8 as well as the rescue vehicle RW 2 and the pumper TLF 16, both of which were adopted by the district of Würzburg. The commanders are Tobias Müller and Andreas Mark. The Firemen's Association has 126 members.

Culture and sights

Village Square

In August, 2005) of the village square in the town center was completed. The eye-catcher is a boulder stone from which gushes a fountain. The mayor personally maintains this place with many flowers, shrubs and grass areas.

Parish Church

The parish church, dedicated to John the Baptist, was built around 1755. According to the plans of Johann Michael Fischer then a new nave was added to the old building.

In the baroque portal is located above the front door the coat of arms of the Prince-Bishop Adam Friedrich von Seinsheim. The tower was rebuilt in 1843 and 1869 provided with a domed roof and lantern.

Between 1765 and 1895 the interior of artists such as Johann Peter Wagner ( high altar ), Fritz Bayerlein and Antonio Petr Olli ( stucco ) and Georg Anton Urlaub ( ceiling painting ) was created. The ornate, light, bright and festive looking figures and the stucco decorations of the church brought the nickname Pearl of the Gau.
