The Sparta Warriors ( officially IHK Sparta Sarpsborg ) are an ice hockey team from the Norwegian Sarpsborg, which plays in the GET ligaen since 1997. Their home games are played in Sparta AMFI. The club colors are blue and white.

History

The ice hockey department of the IL Sparta Sarpsborg was founded in 1958. With the 1962 newly built Sparta AMFI Arena, the club celebrated the greatest success to date, as the crew climb in this year in the first divisjon. The success, however, was short-lived, since the association found himself after the brief interlude in the late 1960s and early 1970s in the 2nd divisjon.

In the 1980s, Sparta then managed to establish itself in the highest Hockey League and coached by Lasse Bäckman won the club 's first championship in 1984. In 1989 the team won the championship for the second time.

In 1995, the club experienced after years of financial problems its darkest hour, and went bankrupt. As a result, the club was relegated to the third division. But this setback did not stop the Warriors and three years later, the team was back in the upper house of the Norwegian hockey and since 1997, the team plays there also continuously.

In the years 1984, 1989 and 2011, the Sparta Warriors won the Norwegian championship.
