St. Georg Church

The St. George's Church or the Gharib Church is a historic Armenian Apostolic Church in the Iranian city of Isfahan.

It is the second oldest church after Hakup Church, which lies within the St. Mary's Church, in the Julfa district. Within the St. George's Church is very simple and there is only an old painting in the apse, but the church is important for its cultivation. In the annex, there are 13 pieces of stones. Armenians brought the stones with from the Cathedral of Etchmiadzin, when she emigrated from Armenia to Isfahan. Because of the stones is the St. George's Church one of the holiest places for Armenians of Julfa. At the entrance of the church there is a picture of ceramic tiles from the era of Sultan Hosein. The image depicts Jesus, Mary, and three lean, bring the gifts dar.
