Stellan Brynell

Stellan Brynell ( born September 28, 1962) is a Swedish chess player.

Life

Stellan Brynell grew up in Malmö, where he learned to play chess from his father. At ten, he joined a chess club. When the family moved into the district Limhamn - Djupadal in Malmö, he joined the chess club Limhamns SK, who is known for his intense youth work. He was trained there by Conny Holst ( b. 1955 ). With the club Brynell was in the seasons 1982/83 and 2012/13 Swedish team champion. Although he has studied engineering, but it is a professional chess player.

Achievements

In 1998 he became an International Master. All three standards he reached in tournaments this summer. In November 1998 he won the Owens -Corning tournament in Wrexham. Since 2001 he is the Grand Master. The first standard for this he won in 1995 in Norway, the second in 1997 in Iceland. Fourteen times he was the Malmö city championship win (as of 2007). The Swedish Individual Championship he won twice: in 1991 in Helsingborg and Gothenburg in 2005. In July 2001 he won in Örebro with Thomas Ernst the tournament Ulf Andersson's 50th birthday. In December 2007 he won the Obro Nytår tournament in Copenhagen. The Påskturneringen in Norrköping he won in March 2008. The Copenhagen Chess Challenge he won in June 2009 and again in June 2010.

With the Swedish national team, he participated in five Chess Olympiads (1992 and 1998-2004 ) with a total score of 16 points from 33 games ( 11, = 10, -12 ). At the Chess Olympiad 2012, he was not playing team captain of both the Swedish national team of men and women. His six European Team Championship appearances (1989, 1999 and 2005 and 2011 ) have a total score of 17.5 out of 35 ( 11, = 13, -11 ).

In the German Chess Bundesliga he played since the season 1998/ 99 for the chess enthusiasts Berlin, which still were called chess friends Neukölln to November 2005. From Berlin, he joined the SSC Rostock 07 In Denmark, he plays for the club Græsteder Skakklubben Nordkalott. He has also played in the Icelandic Team Championship.

His current Elo rating is 2500 (as of September 2012), so it is on the twelfth of the Swedish Elo ranking. His previous highest Elo rating was 2534 January-June 2003.
