Sten Svantesson Bielke

Sten Svantesson Bielke (* 1598, † April 6, 1638 in Stettin, also Steno Bielke ) was a Swedish ambassador and head of the Protestant Union.

Bielke came from the noble family Bielke and was the son of Baron Svante Bielke and Elisabeth Leijonhufvud. After several trips abroad, which have led him to the holy places in Palestine, Bielke was 1625 Chamberlain, 1631 legate and two years later Governor-General of Swedish Pomerania. In the same year he was promoted to the Imperial Council and 1636 general agent in Germany and director of the Protestant Union.

Of his contemporaries, he is as eloquent, taught and described as a nobleman who enjoyed the confidence of his king, Gustav II Adolf.

He died unmarried in 1638 in Szczecin.
