Stephen Werner

Stephen Werner ( born August 8, 1984 in Washington, DC ) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since 2012 in the Augsburger Panther in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga under contract.

Career

Stephen Werner began his career as a hockey player in the U.S. National Team Development Program, for which he to 2002 American Hockey League was active from 2000 in the junior leagues United States Hockey League and North. Then he attended for four years, the UMass Amherst, for their hockey team he played in parallel in the Hockey East. During his studies he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2003 in the third round than a total of 83 players from the Washington Capitals. For their farm team Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, the center was towards the end of the 2005/06 season his debut in professional hockey. In the following two seasons, he ran in parallel for the Hershey Bears in the AHL as well as their partners South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL. He also came during the season 2007/ 08 he was also responsible for the AHL Springfield Falcons team to use. In the following season he went to the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL and the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL.

After a year's break from Hockey Werner went to the 2010/11 season to Germany, where he received a contract with the Star Bulls Rosenheim from the 2nd Hockey League. The following season spent the Americans at the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg of the German Ice Hockey League before he was hired for the season 2012/13 of their league rivals Augsburger Panther.

Internationally

For the U.S., Werner took part in the U18 World Youth Championship in 2002 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2004. In both tournaments he won the gold medal with his team.
