Stockholm Mean Machines

The Stockholm Mean Machines, formerly Danderyd Mean Machines, are an association for American football from Stockholm in Sweden. The Mean Machines are the oldest and most successful football team in Sweden and playing in the top league, the "Super Series ".

History

First Football Team Sweden, the Mean Machines was founded in 1982 in the village of Danderyd as Danderyd Mean Machines. The first defeat in the club's history was in 1985 in his time still unofficial finale to the Swedish championship against the Lidingö Pink Chargers. 1990 Mean Machines for the first time Swedish champion were ( a Final victory of 1984 did not count as an official championship ). They are also the only team that has been through all seasons of the Super Series.

In 1995 the team moved to the capital, Stockholm, and changed the name according to the Stockholm Mean Machines. Since then, the Mean Machines won several Swedish Championships.

Internationally known are the Stockholm Mean Machines by their multiple participation in the European Football League (EFL ) in which they competed in 2006 and had to admit defeat until the semi-final against the Dodge Vikings Vienna with 9-42.

In the EFL seasons in 2009 and 2010, the Mean Machines had to give already beaten in the group stage.

Achievements

  • Swedish Champion: 1990, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009 ( unofficially 1984)
  • Swedish runner-up: 1987, 1992 and 2001 ( unofficially 1985)
  • Participation in the semi-finals at the Euro Bowl EFL: 2000, 2001, 2005 and 2006
  • Participation in the quarterfinals of the EFL: 1991, 1998, 1999 and 2003

Since 1994, the Mean Machines operate a successful youth program.

The home matches of the club at the stadium " Zinkensdamms Idrottsplats " in Stockholm.
