Stone County (Arkansas)

The Stone County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Mountain View. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

History

The Stone County was formed on April 17, 1873 from parts of Independence County, Izard County of, of Searcy County and Van Buren County. It was named after the significant rock formations in this area.
