Storhamar Dragons

The Storhamar Dragons are an ice hockey team in the Norwegian GET - League. Founded this was on 18 March 1957 as a department of the Hockey Storhamar IL in Hamar. With six Norwegian Championships ( most recently in 2008 ), the team is one of the most successful ice hockey teams in Norway. The stadium in Hamar Olympic AMFI is since 1992 the home of the Storhamar Dragons. The club colors are yellow and blue.

History

Basis for the establishment of the Section Hockey were the 1952 Olympic Games, the young people from Hamar West inspired to play hockey. The first game was played before the foundation of the department in 1956. However, the team lost against Vålerenga Oslo with 4:9. A year later the club to the Norwegian Ice Hockey Association announced officially. The founding date was set on 18 March 1957.

In the 1960s, established the club and won numerous regional championships, after which it was told also to regional championships. Even ten years after the founding of the club gained ever greater prestige and membership numbers to rise.

In the 1970s, the association established in the nationwide hockey, despite poor infrastructure and a natural ice rink. In March 1977, the culmination came with the promotion to the 1st Division. For next season, the Dragons were also the desired ice rink.

According to some economic problems, the team was able to celebrate the return to the first division again in 1982. Mid-80s managed Storhamar 's breakthrough, and advanced to a top team in Norway, despite difficult economic conditions.

Through the Olympic Games in 1994 in Lillehammer, the club received a new home donated. The newly built ice rink Olympic AMFI was henceforth its home. Sporty It went better from then on, and thanks to many new sponsors the turbulent times were first past. The club was able to undertake a number of good players who the club in 1995 bestowed the first championship. After that, the Dragons dominated two more years, the Norwegian ice hockey and was also in 1996 and 1997 Norwegian champion. In the time it set a record of 30 games without defeat. 1998 one added the nickname Dragons and created a new club crest. From then on they called themselves Storhamar Dragons.

In 2000 succeeded the fourth championship. However, accumulated again the financial problems and the club was a few times near the end. But new sponsors kept the club in the short term and over again over water.

While the club in 2002 and 2003 in the play-off finals yet succumbed, he celebrated his fifth title after a hard-fought final in 2004.
