Suburban Tribe (band)

Suburban Tribe was a Finnish alternative metal band from Helsinki, which was founded in 1992 and disbanded in 2011.

History

The band was formed in summer 1992 by bassist Janne Joutsenniemi ( ex- Stone), founded guitarist Roope Sirén (Ex - Airdash ) and drummer Alec Hirst -Gee. Together they played the first cover versions and made spending time in the search for a singer. With Ville Tuomi they were initially a suitable occupation but it rose in December of the same year back out to join the band Kyyria. Tuomi was replaced by Jouni Markkanen. On New Year's night of the year, the band for the name Sub - Urban Tribe decided. By spring 1993, she played a few concerts in their hometown of Helsinki. It became aware of the band Kari Hynninen of Zen Garden Records and took them under contract.

In the basement of Roope Sirén mother, the band recorded their debut album. End of February 1994 the debut album Primitive in Finland. In summer, the band played several concerts in Finland, as well as at a festival in Slovenia.

Their second album called Purity took the band to Orimattila in an over 100 year old farmhouse on and published it in September 1995. Prior to the release, the band held a concert at Popkomm in Cologne.

After a tour that lasts until New Year's Eve, the band began a collaboration with the Finnish musician Don Huonot. For the song Sirkuksessa a music video was created, which received an award for the best Finnish rock video 1997. Together the two bands go a month tour. After that, the band worked on new songs.

The third album panorama was published in spring 1997. Since they had been working on the album with many guest musicians that have grossed strings and synthesisers, the band needed a keyboard player for the tour that was to follow on the album release. With Emerson Burton, who plays under the name Janne Johannes Purttinen in HIM, the band found a matching keyboard. The Single First Spring Day took first place in the Finnish radio charts.

In 1998 was published with Primetime Collection a best -of CD, was heard on the covers of David Bowie's Life on Mars or Sabotage by the Beastie Boys.

The band was then taken by Spinefarm Records. The album Electro 57 was released in October 1998, this label. The release was followed by a tour in November, which continued into the next year. In subsequent years, the band took a break and worked on new material. In 2002, the album Suburban Tribe was released by EMI. With the release also changed the spelling of the band name. Ville Tuomi was that initial lead singer of the band, also also replaced Markkanen singer, keyboardist Burton was no longer in the band.

Before the album was released in Germany, the band went with Oomph! on tour through Germany, and then Finland. The single Frozen Ashes won the first place in Finland.

Nevertheless, Suburban Tribe was the only album that was sold in Germany. In January 2004, the album was released Manimal. The release was followed by a tour of Finland. In addition, the appearance at a festival in Moscow was planned, but which has been canceled.

The next album called Revolt Now! followed in April 2006. titled debut album in Finland # 7 in the charts.

In 2007, the compilation was Recollection and in 2010 the album Now and Ever After. In 2011, the band broke up.

Style

In the musical influences of bands like Korn and Misery Inc. are audible. It switches between soft un harder vocals.
