Swimming at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's 400 metre freestyle
The competition over 400 meters freestyle men at the 2012 Olympics in London was held on 28 July 2012 at the London Aquatics Centre. 28 athletes took part.
There were four heats. The eight fastest swimmers of all heats qualified for the final.

Park was disqualified for false starts first. After protest of the Korean Association of disqualification has been withdrawn. Cornel Marculescu, executive director of the federation FINA, said Parks shrug on the starting block was unconscious and did not affect the race.

Yang managed the third fastest ever swum time over this distance. Only world record holder Paul Biedermann and the Australian Ian Thorpe, whose best performance 1/100 second is less than the world record. Yang is also the first male Olympic champion from China in swimming.
