Tanohata (Iwate)

Tanohata (Japanese田野 畑 村, -mura ) is a village community in the district Shimohei in the east of Iwate Prefecture in Japan.

Geography

Fudai is located on the Pacific Ocean on the Sanriku coast, which is characterized here by high cliffs. The 200 m high cliffs Kitayama (北 山崎, Kitayama - zaki ) at 8 km to the northeast and the equally high Unosu - scarp (鵜ノ巣 断崖, Unosu - Dangai ) in the southeast are part of the Rikuchu - Kaigan National Park. There are only few sandy beaches, the settlement focuses on a number of hamlets in the extensive terraces in the hinterland, and the mountain valleys, river valleys and estuaries.

Tanohata lies south of Fudai and north of Iwaizumi.

History

The church today Tanohata originated in reorganization of the municipal system on April 1, 1889 from the union of the old Tanohata with the villages Hamaiwazumi (浜 岩 泉村) to the south of it and Numabukuro (沼 袋 村) in the west deep in the mountains, always in the county Kitahei. This county was merged on 29 March 1896 Nakahei and Higashihei to the district Shimohei.

On 11 March 2011 triggered by the Tohoku earthquake tsunami caused severe damage in the countries along the coast districts, despite their protection with surge barriers. With Release 20 Mai About 200 houses were completely destroyed and counted 14 dead and 22 missing. Traffic

Important highways after Tanohata are the National Road 45 to Sendai or Aomori, the section between Fudai and Iwaizumi as Sanriku Kita- crossing road (三 陆 北 縦 贯 道路, Sanriku Kita Jukan Doro ) is called. There is also the prefectural roads 44 and 173 in the municipality.

On the rail network Fudai is connected via the Kita- Rias Line ( North Rias Line) the railway company Sanriku tetsudō. This leads to the main stations from Miyako and Kuji. The stops in Tanohata are Shimanokoshi (岛 越 駅, -eki ) and Tanohata (田野 畑 駅, -eki ). The former, however, was washed away in the tsunami of 11 March 2011.

Education

In Tanohata are an elementary school, middle school and prefectural high school.

Twinning

In February 1997 Tanohata entered into a twinning with the Japanese Kawamoto, which was also adopted as the latter was incorporated in 2006 by Fukaya.
