Taruntius (crater)

Taruntius is an impact crater on the lunar front side, between Mare Tranquillitatis and Mare Fecunditatis, southeast of Da Vinci and northeast of Secchi. The rim is irregular and eroded, the interior has concentric structures and grooves Rimae Taruntius on.

South run from the crater radial direction away from the crater, the high ridges of the Dorsa Cato and dorsum Cushman and in a south-easterly direction, the Catena Taruntius.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Roman astrologers Lucius Tarrutius.
