Tennis Australia

Tennis Australia ( TA) is the National Tennis Association of Australia.

History

Following the establishment of the Davis Cup in the early 20th century, the Australian players Norman Brookes and Alfred Dunlop sought to participate. In 1901 newly independent Australia, however, there was still no own national association, which was required for this. Thus was founded in September 1904, the Australasian Lawn Tennis Association ( ALTA ) by representatives of the Australian states and New Zealand. In November 1905, the Association notified the first championships in Melbourne, which later developed the Australian Open. In 1922, New Zealand its own national association, and the Australian Association changed their name into Lawn Tennis Association of Australia ( LTAA ). Today, the Association operates under the name Tennis Australia.

Tasks

Tennis Australia organized the Australian Open, one of the four major tennis tournaments in the world. In addition, the association the Australian Open Series, one taking place between late December and early January preparation series for the Australian Open, and the Australian Pro Tour held in the months of February and March.
