Tha Chang District, Surat Thani

Amphoe Tha Chang ( Thai อำเภอ ท่าฉาง ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the province of Surat Thani. The Surat Thani Province is located in the southern region of Thailand.

Geography

The neighboring Amphoe and territories are (from north clockwise): Chaiya in the north, the Bay of Bandon in the east, Phunphin, Vibhavadi and Ban Ta Khun in the south, to the west of the district is Kapoe the Ranong province.

The district extends from the coast to the Bay of Bandon in the east to the Phuket mountain range, which runs on the border between the provinces of Surat Thani and Ranong. In these mountains and the Kaeng Krung National Park is located

Through the district runs both the south line of the State Railway of Thailand and the Asian Highway AH2.

History

Tha Chang was born on July 31, 1908 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established, consisting of the Tambon Than Pak Chalui and Sawiat from Amphoe Phum Riang Tambon Tha Khoei, as well as, Tha Chang Khlong Sai of Amphoe Phunphin. The sub-district was Phum Riang subordinate. On August 1, 1938 Tha Chang has been promoted to Amphoe.

Management

The Amphoe Tha Chang is divided into 6 subdistricts ( tambon), which in turn have together 46 municipalities ( Muban ).

Tha Chang is also the name of a small town ( thesaban tambon), it is in the Tambon Tha Chang and Khao Than.

In addition, there are six " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
