The Celestine Prophecy
The Celestine Prophecy is a 1993 novel published by James Redfield. The book is about that for the past half a century, gradually a new consciousness enters our world, which can be described transcendental and spiritual only with the words.
By May 2005, over 20 million copies were sold worldwide. The first 10,000 sold by the author from the trunk of his car until the publisher Time Warner took the book. The book was translated into 34 languages. The eponymous film, based on the book, was published in 2006.
Formation
Redfield began in 1989 to write his first book. But the publication of two years, which requires a disclosure by an established publishing house, seemed too long. In 1993 he published The Celestine Prophecy in paperback therefore self-produced and distributed it to selected, alternative bookstores. In 1994, Warner Books obtained the rights to publish The Celestine Prophecy as a bound book.

1995 and 1996 was The Celestine Prophecy on the first place of the world's best-seller list of American books. The book stayed for three years on the bestseller list of the New York Times.
Following on from the success of James Redfield led the series with the novel The Tenth Celestine Prophecy continues, which in 1996 reached the second place in the New York Times bestseller list. There followed in 2001 The Secret of Shambhala: The Third Book of Celestine. In March 2011, appeared as the fourth book in the series The twelfth Celestine Prophecy: Beyond, 2012.
Criticism
Redfield stated that had the work of the founder of Transactional Analysis, Eric Berne and his book Games People Play, a bestseller of 1964, a significant influence on his work. In particular, the life games, the Berne refers in his book to be used as a tool for the individual tasks of the energetic independence.
